FFA participate in Gleaning conference in Washington, DC Picture accompanies this article By Kirby Hancock FFA members Deanna Chapman, Sarah Thompson, and Chelsea Beard along with FFA advisor Kirby Hancock have been touring Washington D.C. for the past week (July 17-22). Highlights of the trip included meeting with Senator McConnell, visiting museums and monuments, and touring the Holocaust Memorial. The students were participating in a conference conducted by the national FFA which focused on public service and leadership. One day of the trip included participating in a Gleaning project. This is where local farmers donate leftover produce that they can't sell on the regular market. The students picked cucumbers to be processed into pickles and made available to homeless people. This is the eleventh consecutive year that the Adair County FFA has had students participate the Washington FFA Leadership program. This story was posted on 2007-07-22 09:56:40
