Gov. Fletcher announces 580 new jobs for Glasgow Sitel Operating Corporation to locate call center in Glasgow From Commonwealth News Center Governor Ernie Fletcher today joined officials and leaders of Glasgow, Barren County and Sitel Operating Corp. to announce Sitel's opening of a contact center facility in Glasgow. Sitel is a leading global provider of outsourced customer care services. The 45,000 square-foot, inbound call center will create approximately 580 new full-time jobs. "The location of Sitel Operating Corporation will provide a tremendous economic boost to Barren County and the entire south central Kentucky region," said Governor Fletcher. "Kentucky is proud to welcome the Sitel facility and the hundreds of employment opportunities it represents. We look forward to building upon this new partnership in the years ahead." The new facility will provide customer service and technical support via phone, e-mail or chat to Sitel clients in the entertainment or technology industries. The facility will include a training center with 80 to 100 training stations to educate new associates and support existing employees. "Sitel is pleased to add the Glasgow facility to our expanding North American footprint as we continue to meet the needs of our 450-plus clients worldwide," said David Garner, president and chief executive officer of Sitel. "After evaluating options in Texas, California, New Mexico and New York, we selected Glasgow based on several factors, including its strong labor force and proximity to our Nashville, Tenn., headquarters. Additionally, Glasgow represents an exceptional location for conducting business and is a convenient and ideal area for our clients, which are primarily Fortune 500 companies." With facilities in 28 countries, Sitel provides contact center services in 32 languages to clients in diverse and growing end markets. On average, the company handles 3 million interactions per day through a worldwide workforce of more than 67,000. "The support and commitment from the citizens and government of Glasgow and the state of Kentucky have been tremendous," Garner said. "Specifically, we appreciate the efforts of Scott Luth and Steve Newberry of the Glasgow-Barren County Industrial Development Economic Authority, who were persistent and tenacious throughout this 18-month process. Additional thanks extend to Western Kentucky University for its support, and we look forward to collaborating with its staff and administration as we train our future workforce." The Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority preliminarily approved Sitel for tax benefits up to $6 million under the Kentucky Jobs Development Act, an incentive program designed to attract and expand technology- and service-related industries. "We are very pleased to have Sitel coming to our community. Sitel will be a positive addition to our area by providing hundreds of job opportunities," said Glasgow Mayor Darrell Pickett. "We have a lot of people to thank, from the Governor's Office on down, who have assisted us with this project. Because of those efforts and commitments, this project is now a reality." "We are very fortunate to have a company like Sitel locate in Barren County. The company and the 580 new jobs it will create mean a lot to this community," said Barren County Judge-Executive Davie Greer. "The contact center services industry continues to be a very strong and growing market and Barren County is committed to working with Sitel now and in the future.
