Two Adair Co. softball teams will compete in State Tournaments

Adair Bandits play best two of three for State Championship on July 21 in Columbia! A C Flame, 13-14 year olds, play July 14 in Paintsville. Adair and Adair-Clinton teams' rosters below.

The local area will be represented by two Little League girls all-star teams playing in the Kentucky State Softball tournament this month. The 13-14 years old A C Flame and the 15-16 years old Adair Bandits will take the field representing the Fifth District. Both teams received automatic bids to play other district winners throughout the state<



The A C Flame will begin play on Saturday, July 14, 2007, at Paintsville in a field of six teams. Each team will play four games with the two teams with the best record playing for the state title on Wednesday the 18th.

The Flame team is made up of five girls from Adair County and five girls from Clinton County. Members of the team are McKenzie Martin, Meredith Corbin, Kaylin Hughes, Dariann Smith, Heather Powell, Kayla Walls, Brooke Boils, Chelsea Brown, Breonia Thurman, and Chelsea Sampson.

The Flames first game will be Saturday at 11:00am ET at Paul B Hall Field in Paintsville. Their other games will be Sunday 12:30pm ET, Monday 5:00pm ET, Tuesday 8:00pm ET. If the Flames is one of the two best teams they will then play on Wednesday for the State Championship. Games on Wednesday will be at 5:00 pm. 6:30pm and 8:30 pm ET

The other teams competing in the tournament are Fleming-Neon, Belfry, Ohio County, Fleming County, and Winchester.

Older team, Adair Bandits will play for State title in Columbia

The 15-16 age Adair Bandits received an automatic bid to the state tournament which will be held on July 21 & 22 at Adair County Little League Park in Columbia.

Only two teams are in this age group.

They will play a best of three series to determine the State Champion. Members of the Bandits are Shauna Davis, Chelsea Coomer, Jarieka Barnett, Natalie Sneed, Whitney Rodgers, Jamie Bailey, Bethany Herron, Jessie Parrish, and Samatha Pillar. The Bandits will play an Oldham County all-star team.

Games begin at 4:00pm CT
