Columbia Police make arson arrest at Lakeway Apts.

Columbia Police arrested Benjamin Holden, 18, of Columbia just after midnight this morning, Wednesday, July 11, 2007, on charges of arson 1st degree, wanton endangerment 1st degree, and malicious mischief.

The charges followed a response at 12:40am CT to Lakeway Apartments on Russell Road in Columbia, KY after they were told of a fire in the laundry room which had been put out by tenants of the complex.

The officers believed the fire had been deliberately set, and after further investigation they arrested Holden. He was lodged in the Adair County Regional Jail. The arrest was made by CPD Officer Josh Brockman, assisted by Sgt. Jason Cross.

The investigation continues, and more charges may be made, according to Sgt. Cross.
