Jim Kelly to continue service on KSP Personnel board

(Commonwealth News Service)--Governor Ernie Fletcher has reappointed Jim D. Kelly, of the Johnson County community of Flat Gap, to the State Police Personnel Board.

Kelly retired in January after 40 years with the U.S. Social Security Administration. He received a bachelor's degree in business economics from Morehead State University. Kelly is president of the Big Sandy Area Development District Council on Aging and treasurer of Sandy Valley Transportation. He is vice president of the Johnson County Senior Citizens Center and vice chairman of the East Kentucky Leadership Foundation. He is a member of the Paintsville/Johnson County Chamber of Commerce, the Van Lear Historical Society and the East Kentucky Veterans Coalition for Better Health Care. He is married to Mary Jo Kelly.

The State Police Personnel Board administers the employment fitness examinations of cadet trooper applicants and establishes a list of potential officers resulting from the applicants' exam performance. The board is made up of the Kentucky State Police commissioner and four other members appointed by the Governor, representing each of the two major political parties.
