GOP to pick 1st District magisterial nominee July 16, 2007

Republicans to pick 1st District magisterial nominee July 16, 2007Adair County Republican Chair Benton Fudge has announced that the party will hold a special meeting on Monday, July 16, to name a nominee for the Republican Party to appear on the November 6, 2007 general election ballot for Magistrate in Adair County District 1, which includes Eunice-Pellyton, Little Cake, and White Oak precincts.

The meeting will be at 6:00pm CT, in the basement of the Adair Annex Building.

The party had planned to name the candidate last week, but was awaiting information from the State Republican Party as well as specific instructions from the Secretary of State to make sure proper protocol would be followed. "We wanted to make sure everything would be done properly, so there would be no questions about our decision," Vice Chair Lisa Lee said. The nominee must be file at the County Court Clerk's office no later than Tuesday, August 14, 2007, at 4:00pm CT.The election was necessitated by the resignation of Roger Stephens, who resigned to take a job with the Kentucky Department of Highways in the District 8 headquarters in Somerset, KY. Stephens, a Republican, had held the office for 13 and one-half years.

For further information, contact Chairman Fudge at (270) 634-1530; or Vice Chair Lisa Lee at (270) 469-0376.
