Friday, June 1, 2007: UCB Annual Appreciation Day is Friday
United Citizens Bank will be holding an annual customer appreciation day on Friday, June 1, 2007, at its Jamestown & Heskamp Streets location--Main Location, 700 Jamestown Street, Columbia..The day will begin at 10:30am with a welcome by CEO Dave Johnston and Carla Shelley, Marketing Director. A lunch catered by Sandy Rogers, with dessert provided by Janet Sharpe will be accompanied by "The Klassyc Tymes."Customers can register all day at either UCB location for prize giveaways that wil be given throughout the day. Customers do not have to be present to win. There will be a special giveaway for anyone who opens a new account on June 1. A grand prize will be given away at 5:00pm CT. Prizes will be announced on WHVE-FM 92.7. The bank invites everyone to come by and enjoy the day.

Columbia and Adair County Fire Department volunteers will be manning roadblocks for the Crusade for Children. All the money donated--all of it--comes back to Adair County in the form of grants. Adair County Middle School will be holding a Promotion Celebration for 8th graders on Saturday, June 2, 2007, at 5:00pm CT, in the school gymnasium. All parents, friends, and relatives are invited to attend. Immediately following the Celebration ceremony, parents are encouraged to stay for a reception. Tuesday, June 5, 2007: Van presentation to Senior Citizens
Adair County Judge Ann Melton will present the keys to a brand new Senior Citizens van on Tuesday morning, June 5, 2007, at 10am in front of the Adair Annex Building. The van was financed with a 90% grant from Lake Cumberland Community Services, with a 10% contribution from Adair Fiscal Court.

Tuesday, June 5, 2007: CACIDA meets
The Columbia Adair County Industrial Development Authority (CACIDA) officially meets each first Tuesday at Noon CT in the Chamber Board Room, in the Chamber headquarters at the southeast corner of Fortune and Burkesville Streets. Meetings have whimsically held; call ahead to guarantee group will hold session as announced. By statute, meetings are open to the public. Members of the board are Chairman Barry Corbin, and members Monica Rodgers, Barry Loy, Jason Corbin, Randy Nelson, and Mike Neal. You are invited to attend the Third Annual Greensburg "Art in the Alley" Festival to be held Saturday, June 9, 2007, just off the downtown square in beautiful historic Greensburg, KY, between the hours of 9am and 5pm CT. The event is sponsored by the Greensburg Arts Council and will feature KY artisans exhibiting their work. The day is filled with activities for all ages. The Columbia-Adair County Water Commission holds Regular Second Thursday monthly meeting at the Adair County Water District office conference room on Grant Lane off the Campbellsville RD. This commission is the governing body for the jointly operated Columbia-Adair County Water Plant now under construction.

Lewis Garrison's 11th Annual Russell Creek Antique Gas Engine & Tractor Show will be Saturday, June 16, 2007, starting at 10am CT. The show is held at Garrison construction Company, 7 miles north of Columbia, KY on KY 61 at Clay Ridge, between Columbia and Greensburg, KY. There will a Kiddy Tractor pull at 1:00pm CT with awars for first and second places. Other contests include Slow-go, egg on spoon, a barrell roll, and ball-in-bucket. Bloomington Chapel Brethren in Christ Church will be having a fish fry and singing on Saturday, June 16, 2007, beginning at 10:30am. Joining us from Indiana will be the congregation of Who So Ever Will Church, including pastor and WSEW Church founder Bro. Lewis Burton, and youth minister, Bro. Mike Bryant. The congregation of Who So Ever Will Church will be providing special singing starting at 4:00pm. Hamburgers and hotdogs will also be available. Bear Wallow and Barnett's Creek United Methodist Churchs' will be hosting a Hog Roast and Gospel Music Night on Saturday, June 16, 2007. The Giles Society will sponsor a pottery workshop on Saturday, June 23, 2007, for young people ages 7 to 12 at The Giles House on Spout Springs Road in Knifley, KY. FREE ADMISSION. Mike Hagen's Strength Team, a group of world class athletes who perform amazing feats of strength, will be at the Adair County High School gym this evening, Tuesday, June 26, 2007, at 7pm CT, and again on Wednesday night, June 27, at 7pm CT. On Wednesday, when most other Adair County pastors are holding comparatively sedate prayer meetings, Pastor Randy Johnson of the Columbia Baptist Church is going to be sandwiched between a bed of nails. "They claim I will be the "wholiest" pastor in Columbia!" Pastor Johnson said. The Strength team break things with their forearms and heads, and rip through big phone books with their bare hands. The Strength Team is sponsored by the Columbia Baptist Church. The events are coordinated with the church's Vacation Bible School, in session this week from 9am-noon CT each day.
