Lindsey Wilson finishes sixth in U.S.A. in NACDA Directors' Cup

Women's soccer earned 100 Directors' Cup points for Lindsey Wilson by winning the national title in November 2006. Azuza 1st, Cumberlands is 21st, CU is 46th

Lindsey Wilson College athletics finished sixth in the United States Sports Academy Directors' Cup, presented annually by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA), United States Sports Academy and USA TODAY.

The Directors' Cup is a season long competition that awards points based on postseason finish within a sport. Lindsey Wilson finished sixth out of 287 NAIA schools with 630.50 points.



"I think the Directors' Cup is the ultimate measuring stick in terms of the overall success of any athletic department," Lindsey Wilson athletics director Willis Pooler said. "The finish is a direct result of our coaches working incredibly hard and living the mission of Lindsey Wilson College."I'm very proud of our student-athletes, coaches and the administration that supports us on a daily basis."

Lindsey Wilson finished a program-best third last year scoring 615 points. The 630.50 points is the most scored in Lindsey Wilson history.

Lindsey Wilson scored its record point total despite not competing in football, wrestling and men's and women's swimming.

Azusa Pacific (CA) University won the Directors' Cup for the third consecutive season with 978.25 points.

The LWC women's soccer team led the way winning the program's second national title in November. The Blue Raiders collected 100 points toward the total with the national championship.

Men's soccer scored 53 points for a tie for ninth at the national tournament.

Lindsey Wilson ended the fall season with 153 points and in 12th place.

Women's indoor track & field was the only team to score during the winter season for Lindsey Wilson. The women's team scored 49.5 points for their 23rd place finish at the NAIA Indoor National Championships in March.

Lindsey Wilson finished the winter season in 35th place with 202.5 points.

Women's golf and women's tennis led Lindsey Wilson back into the top-10.

The Lindsey Wilson women's golf team scored 90 points for their program-best national runner-up finish in May, while the women's tennis team finished tied for third earning 83 points.

Men's tennis earned 70 points for their tie for fifth and men's golf chipped in 58.5 points with a 15th place finish at the two sport's national tournaments.

Baseball (25 points), softball (25) and men's outdoor track & field (51) all helped Lindsey Wilson to its best spring in the history of the program.

Lindsey Wilson led three Mid-South Conference schools ranked in the top-50. University of the Cumberlands (KY) finished in 21st with 485 points and Campbellsville (KY) University finished in 46th with 346.50 points.United States Sports Academy Directors' Cup final standings.
