Birthday dinner is surprise for Ralph Waggener

Ralph Waggener was given a surprise birthday party, eight days after his actual birthday, on Sunday, June 10, 2007.

The delay was to allow his daughter Sharon Green, and sons, to fly from their new home in Florida, after the end of the boys' school year.

Present for the event, were his wife, Glinda Waggener and the following:

Daughter Sharon Green, and grandsons Stephen and Andrew Green of Tampa, Florida, and their Leitchfield, KY friend Anthony; daughter Lee Grider with granddaughter Emma, and grandsons Zachary and Joseph Grider; and son Doug Waggener and Brandi Johnson, and grandchildren Sydney, Garret, and Jadelyn Waggener, the newest grandchild.

Also, sisters Annette Richards and Fay McKinley, and older brother Ed Waggener and his wife Linda Waggener.

Also, friends Wayne Pickett and her daughter, Donna Jones; Sue Sandusky, and Pat and Martha Bell.

A telephone call was also received from sister Jean Cravens in Indianapolis, IN, Ralph Waggener's only other living sibling.
A delicious buffet meal was catered by Chef Paula Miller. The birthday party was a complete surprise for Ralph Roy, with Pat Bell in charge of keeping him out of the house and out of the way while preparations were made.

The cover was a trip to Russell County to find a man from McCreary County who rebuilds cars. It involved many stops in Russell Springs, Jamestown, Phelps acres and a detour to avoid the Cedar Creek bridge construction site, and was carried out with James Bond precision.

A good time was had by all.
