2007 Relay for Life: Stage Ready. Will $100,000 goal be met?

The stage was set for the 2007 Adair County Relay for Life which is, by now underway. From left, above, are Denise Fudge, Keena Jo Grant, the stage coordinator; Kristi Taylor, and a very anxious Angela Dean, the chair of the 2007 Relay for Life, who is very anxious to be able to announce that this year's Adair County Relay for Life has topped $100,000 for the first time in history, in her very first year as chair of the Relay. The theme this year, as the backdrop notes, is "Driving for a Cure." Events continue from now, 6:00pm Friday, June 8, 2007, to Saturday, June 9, 2007, 6am CT.

2007 Relay for Life: CVCC & Wheels Rolling display

Cane Valley Christian Church keeps "Wheels Rolling for a Cure," following the "Driving for a Cure" thene o fthe 2007 Adair County Relay for Life. Though the display was to be visual, not participative, kds wouldn't resist getting in the wheels display. Fran Humphress, far left, said that the Cane Valley Christian Church team has had its best year, raising over $5,000, over 5% of the countywide goal total, for the 2007 Relay. Working with her on the display were Debbie and Doug White and Albert Woodrum Others on the CVCC team, not in the photo, are Jewel Hare, Johnny Vaughn, Bobby Webster, Carol and Charles Shirley, Ivan Tucker, Jane Breeding, Dee and Jerry Watson, Beatrice Hendrickson, and Don Neat. The photo was taken a few minutes before the 6:00pm kickoff. Events continue for a 12 hour duration, concluding at 6:00am Saturday, June 9, 2007.

2007 Relay for Life: Angie Dean, Over, Out the Top!

In her first year as chair of the Adair County Relay for Life, Angie Dean led the combined Adair County Relay for Life teams to a record breaking, and as the drawing shows with mercury well above the $100,000 mark, a goal-breaking year. The announcement this year's Relay shattered the old record by some $20,000, to reach $110,000, was made just before 10pm CT last night, Friday, June 8, 2007.

It grows each year, in large part due to the efforts of the Adair County Relay for Life and groups like them all over America working for a cure. Even in an emotion-packed night, the very appearance of these gallant men sends a choke to the throat. They gave so much in service to America, yet continue what is often a grueling schedule to meet ceremonial demands. They were there for the Relay. Here, a VFW Post 6097 unit presents colors. From left, Bill Spicer-Squad Commander: Stanley Jones, Jimmy Luttrell (holding flag, hidden), Kenneth Scott and Gilbert Curry. Backed by Relay for Life Committee members and featured singers on stage, it was an unforgettable Relay moment.

Green River Kruzers Car Club at Relay For Life. Driving for a Cure display exactly fit the theme of the 2007 Relay for Life. Glittering in the Booster Field lights, the display, on the entrance side of the field, was a major attranction of major Adair County annual event.
