10:00am CT: Van presentation to Senior Citizens
Adair County Judge Ann Melton will present the keys to a brand new Senior Citizens van on Tuesday morning, June 5, 2007, at 10am in front of the Adair Annex Building. The van was financed with a 90% grant from Lake Cumberland Community Services, with a 10% contribution from Adair Fiscal Court.

Noon: CACIDA meets
Martin Jones, Economic Development for the Columbia-Adair County Industrial Authority, has announced that the meeting set for today at noon had to be cancelled because a quorum could not be present. The meeting will be re-scheduled, possibly for next Tuesday. Columbia Mayor Pat Bell will be meeting with The Columbia Adair County Industrial Development Authority (CACIDA) discuss the Zero $$ entry, at this point, in the City Budget for 2007-08. CACIDA officially meets each first Tuesday at Noon CT in the Chamber Board Room, in the Chamber headquarters at the southeast corner of Fortune and Burkesville Streets.

7:00pm CT: Special Regular meeting, Adair County Fiscal Court
Regular monthly meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00pm CT. Open to the public. Large room accommodates well, with restrooms convenient.

Tuesday, June 5, 2007, 7:00pm CT: G.R.A.W.L. Meeting
The Green River Animal Welfare League. (G.R.A.W.L.) (the first Tuesday of each month) at 7pm in the basement of the Columbia Chamber of Commerce building, SE corner Burkesville and Fortune Streets. Plenty of parking in back of building by lower entrance and in city parking lot on Fortune ST. All participation is welcome. -Shantilla Rexroat, D.V.M., President.

General Veelie was named after him. In 1883, John Maynard Keynes, economist who believe governments should mitigate economics, as opposed to the theories of F.A. Hayek, an Austrian economist. Keynes made the statement, "In the end, we are all dead."
  • DEATHS: In 1900, Stephen Crane, author of Maggie, a Girl of the Streets, and The Red Badge of Courage. In 1910, William Sidney Porter, O.Henry who was clever in his use of twist endings. Adair County Road Department: Latest report, Friday, June 1, 2007: We will be ditching on Old Portland Road and the kemp Road in District 5. We will be mowing roadsides in District 1, in the Millerfields area. The sidemower will be on the Butler branch Road in District 6 and along the Rocky Hills Road in District 5. Have a good weekend. Please drive carefully in these areas. -LISA LEE, from the office of Adair County Judge Executive Ann Melton.

KY 92 is closed 1.6 miles east of KY 55 for construction of a new bridge over Cedar Creek. But it is expected to be open around June 10-12, Amy Mitchum, a spokesperson for Garrison Construction Co, said .
