Obituary: Bobby Ray Graves, 70, member 2nd Christian

Mr. Graves was a highly respected farmer of the Gradyville/Bliss area who had recently retired to Columbia. He was the head of a large, prominent western Adair County family. He leaves a 32 living descendants.

Bobby Ray Graves, 70, 209 West Frazier Avenue, Columbia, KY, died Saturday, June 2, 2007, at 1:23pm at Norton-Suburban Hospital in Louisville, KY.

The funeral service will be Thursday, June 7, at 1:00pm CT, at Grissom Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville ST, Columbia, KY, with burial to follow in Dudley Cemetery.



He was a son of the late Walter and Dimple Johnston Graves. He was a member of Second Christian Church. He was a farmer of considerable reputation and a well known horseman. Mr. Graves was a valued citizen and good neighbor and family man.He was preceded in death by his wife, Yvonne Garnett Graves; a son, Joey Graves; and a brother, Herbert Graves.He is survived by the following:
  • Three sons: Ray and his wife Jennifer Graves, Springfield, MA; Bobby L. Graves, Georgetown, KY; and Walter and his wife Charlayne Graves, Elizabethtown, KY

  • Four daughters: Mitzi and her husband George Washington, Wichita, KS; Terryl Graves and Tina Graves, both of Columbia, KY; and Kemmye Graves of Radcliff, KY

  • Four brothers: L.E. Graves, Steubenville, OH; Ben Graves, Boston, MA; Mike Graves, Columbia, KY; and Stevie Foster Graves, Louisville, KY

  • Four sisters: Nina Cheatham, Campbellsville, KY; Annette Newby, Columbia, KY; Mary graves, Boston, MA; and Clara Graves, Columbia, KY

  • And 19 grandchildren and six great grandchildren
Visitation will be after 5:00pm CT, Wednesday, June 6, 2007.

Grissom Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
