Memorial Day Links: Joe Hare shares three

On this Memorial Day, one Adair County veteran of the Vietnam War is sharing recollections of his wartime and very personal experiences online.

Columbia Utilities Gas Superintendent Joe Hare has a passion for the beauty of Adair County and regularly contributes photographs which need no credit line for most to recognize as his work.

He is fervent in standing up for veterans of all the wars who have maintained the freedoms which allow us to enjoy a placid life we think of as a heaven on earth.

Below are three links we think you'll want to visit today and follow frequently as he continues to expand the archives:

  • Click here to access Bravo Black Lion website, by a friend of Joe Hare's, John McCoy of Springfield, OR. A visit to the guestbook and its comments show the impact the Bravo Black Lion website is having, and how it is bringing so many of the men who shared Vietnam veteran Joe Hare's wartime experiences.

  • Click here for a slide show Joe Hare put together. Take a quick visit to this one to clear up one mystery, unidentified ColumbiaMagazine.com photo recently posted.

  • Click here for a new blog Joe Hare started on Saturday, May 26, 2007. This site is another of more than particular interest to Adair Countians. Appropriate for this Memorial Day, it is dedicated, "In honor of Eric, in memory of Craig," with a photo of the both sons, together on a happy Summer Day at home in Cane Valley.
In presenting these links, we are hoping that others who have such sites will share them with ColumbiaMagazine.com readers, and that the sites will inspire those with similar material will follow Joe Hare's example and share their memories, too. - Ed Waggener.
