Memorial Day: Hotdogs at Bearwallow Cemetery
The Bearwallow Cemetery Committee will be selling hotdogs, drinks, and other refreshments at the Bearwallow Cemetery during the Memorial Day Holiday weekend. All proceeds will go toward the upkeep of the Bearwallow Cemetery. -Alma Rich

  • BIRTHS: In 1908, Ian Lancaster Fleming, the creator of James Bond, who saved Ft. Knox, KY for Aurus Goldfinger in the movie Goldfinger. Of equal importance, he wrote Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. In 1911, Thora Hird, appearing as Aunt Edie Pegden of Last of the Summer Wine, currently a KET1 Tv Sunday night British sitcom.
  • DEATHS: In 1843, Noah Webster American lexicographer, textbook author, spelling reformer, political writer and editor. In 1971, Audie Leon Murphy, the most decorated soldier of World War II.

KY 92 is closed 1.6 miles east of KY 55 for construction of a new bridge over Cedar Creek. But it is expected to be open around June 10-12, Amy Mitchum, a spokesperson for Garrison Construction Co, said yesterday. Four 28,0000 lb., 39 ft. concrete beams were installed for the floor of the bridge yesterday, May 21, 2007.
