Flags lowered for Peace Officers Memorial Day Governor Ernie Fletcher has directed that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff for today, Tuesday, May 15, 2007, in recognition of Peace Officers Memorial Day. Men and women across Kentucky and our nation show courage and dedication each and every day as they work to protect our citizens and keep our communities safe, said Governor Fletcher. It is fitting that we take time to celebrate their commitment and remember those fallen officers who sacrificed their lives while protecting others. Governor Fletcher has also proclaimed May 13-19, 2007, as Peace Officers Memorial Week in Kentucky. Flags will remain at half-staff until sunset on Tuesday.
