Public may know soon if ACRS will hold asset sale today Adair County Rescue Squad sale at 6:00pm this evening had been reported but has not been confirmed; if there is a sale, at least two say they will protest the action By Ed Waggener UPDATE: At 6:00pm CT, Sunday Evening, May 6, 2007, there was no apparent activity at the Rescue Squad Building A number of interested parties are watching the Adair County Rescue Squad building today to see if the a sale of equipment will take place at 6:00pm this evening as has been reported. If the sale does happen, at least two persons say they will be there to protest the sale. Neither would speak on record. Both said that if a sale is attempted, they will make news by objecting, and they would, of course, expect to be identified. Latest word on the as yet unconfirmed report of a sale of Rescue Squad assets is from a person who called ColumbiaMagazine.com to ask about the sale. The caller said he understood a sale would take place at 6:00pm tonight, as he had heard. The caller was from Allen County. He said he had heard "by the grapevine" that other Rescue Squads were being invited to a sale at 6:00pm this evening at the Adair County Rescue Squad Building and wanted to comfirm if that were the case. The caller did not know if the event would be an auction, a sale with items priced, or if it would were merely be an exhibit of the items to interested parties. We have been unable to confirm the time. The caller said that he had heard other Rescue Squads had been notified to be at the sale at that time. A Rescue Squad member who attended a Squad meeting at 2:00pm Sunday, April 29, 2007, was asked about a sale. He said he knew of no sale or any meeting at the Adair County Rescue Squad Building tonight. A number of interested parties are watching the Adair County Rescue Squad building today for any sign of activity there. Assets given to the Adair County Rescue Squad by the State are to be picked up tomorrow by Kentucky Division of Emergency Management Manager for Area 12, Don Franklin, Somerset, and Adair SAR Director Greg Thomas. Thomas, as well asthe Adair County Rescue Squad's biggest benefactor, Jim Blair, have both contacted the Kentucky Attorney General's office to intervene in the liquidation of Adair County Rescue Squad real estate, vehicles, Genesis extraction tool device, and other equipment. County Judge Ann Melton and Columbia Mayor Pat Bell are supporting the request for action by the Attorney General This story was posted on 2007-05-06 16:16:41
