Robbie Hancock reports from Iraq: It's getting in 100's now Recent foot patrol in southwest Baghdad turned up big cache of ammunition at home of former Iraqi general under Saddam Hussein By Sgt. Robbie Hancock The picture I'm sending was taken last Sunday in southwest Baghdad, Iraq. That's me on the left and on the right is Specialist Carpenter from Breathitt County, Kentucky. In the accompanying picture, I holding an RPG, or rocket propelled grenade, round taken from a weapons cache we found while on dismounted foot patrol in the area. Found lots of these and also 60mm mortar rounds and other explosives that was intended to do us harm. But we got it and called out an ordnance team. They detonated the cache on the spot with C4, a type of plastic explosive. This cache was found buried in the yard of a former Iraqi Army General under Saddam Hussein. We are on the outlook for him as I write. He will be arrested if found. The weather is now getting into the 100's ever day and we are four months shy of finishing up this deployment. I'm Alpha fire team leader of 1st Squad, 2nd Platoon, Charlie Company, 1/149th Infantry (BCT) of the Kentucky National Guard. This story was posted on 2007-05-06 05:13:40
