Turkey calls: Russell Guy Perkins offers low cost alternative

2007-05-02 - Columbia, KY - Photo By Ed Waggener. Russell Guy Perkins is amused at the way many turkey hunters are buying high dollar Knight & Hale turkey calls, some costing $15 and more. "I make them out of a styrofoam cup," Perkins said. He demonstrated the construction of his "free" turkey call recently at the Circle R. Taking his pocket knife out, he carefully cut a quarter size hole in the bottom. "You use it like a bullhorn," he said, holding it up to his lips, and spoke into it, "Here. Turkey, turkey." Anyone who is not as skilled with a pocket knife as Perkins may want to hire him to make one. He'll do it for practically nothing. Clicking Readmore accesses today's Adair Turkey Harvest report
