8:00am CT: AC Fiscal Court emergency meeting
The Adair County Fiscal Court will have an Emergency Meeting on Monday, April 30, 2007 at 8:00am in the basement of the Adair County Annex Building. The only item on the agenda will be distributing the proposed 2007-2008 Adair County Fiscal Court Budget. The meeting is open to the public. -GALE COWAN, Adair County Finance Officer

7:00pm CT: LWC choral program at Columbia Christian Church
he Lindsey Wilson choral program will perform at at 7pm CT on Monday, April 30 at Columbia Christian Church. The program includes the 34-member, all-Kentucky, Lindsey Singers. Four Columbia residents are in the Lindsey Singers, including one bass, Gregg Medendorp, and three of the choir's eight tenors. The three Columbia tenors are Andy Mann, Kevin Davis, and Brandon Wood.   • EVENTS: In 1900, Casey Jones, who grew up in Cadiz, Trigg County, KY, died in a train wreck in Vaughn, Mississippi, whole trying to make up time on the Cannonball Express In 1939, Franklin Delano Roosevelt became the first president of the United States on television, at the New York World's Fair, where NB C began regularly scheduled television service from its New York Sation. In 1993, the World Wide Web was born at CERN. Today is the last day when it is legal to smoke in a public building in Northern Ireland.
  • BIRTHS: In 1923, "Grandpa" Munster, actor Al Lewis, in NYC. In 1933, Willliam Hugh "Willie" Nelson, the "Red Headed Stranger," in Abbott, TX. Michael Curtis Waltrip, younger brother of Darrell Waltrip, in Owensboro, KY.
  • DEATHS: In 1956, Alben W, Barkley, 35th Vice President of the United States under Harry S. Truman. Barkley was born in Graves County, KY. Served in the U.S. House of Representatives and US Senate from Kentucky. He died moments after declaring, "I would rather be a servant in the House of the Lord than to sit in the seats of the mighty," in a speech at Washington and Lee University of Lexington, VA. HISTORIC SPURLINGTON TRAIN TUNNEL from LARRY SMITH: This is a photo that I took in 1983, It's of the old Spurlington Train Tunnel in Taylor County. This tunel has a lots of history, It was Built in the 1700s. The rail line ran from Lebanon to Greensburg. The tunnel is still standing but the tracks and the trestle have since been removed. The rail line was discontinued in the early 1980's. I hope everyone enjoys this small piece of our history. Larry Smith, 92.7 The Wave

Dozer falls off trailer on West KY 900, Hard Scratch



2007-04-30 - Glens Fork, KY - Photo By Clutch Coomer. NO ONE WAS HURT: Photographer Clutch Coomer was by just a few minutes after this accident on KY 900 barely west of Hard Scratch. Reed Grant's dozer fell off his trailer while he was hauling it to his shop. While there was damage to the dozer and road, no one was hurt in the incident. On the left is the Stick Harmon Farm, On the right is the Jr. Giles Road. Ahead is the road over Simpson Ridge to Melson Ridge and the Cundiff Community.
