Countdown is on: Election is four weeks off

The countdown is on until the election. The 2007 Kentucky Primary election is four weeks--just 28 days--away.

Registration has closed for May 22 primary.

The very latest figures aren't available, but the count on on March 15, 2007 showed the following partisan breakdown:

1. Republicans, 8,140
2. Democrats, 3,756
3. Other, 470
TOTAL, 12,355
Already, Adair County Court Clerk Sheila Blair says, five people have requested mail-in ballots. Requests must be received by May 15, 2007. Mail-in ballots are counted if received as late as election day. "We usually check the post office at 3:00pm to see if any more mail-in ballots have arrived," Clerk Blair said.

Qualified voters who won't be in Adair County on election day may vote at an voting machine set up in the County Court Clerk's office starting May 4 and running through May 21, 2007.

Qualified voters may vote during regular Adair County Court Clerk's office hours, 8am-4:00 Monday through Friday, and 8:30-Noon on Saturday.
