10:00am CT: Ribbon cutting at Best Buy Clothes The Columbia-Adair County Chamber of Commerce will have a ribbon cutting ceremony Tuesday, April 24, 2007, beginning at 10:00am CT at Best Buy Clothes & More, a division of Dixieland Production, located at 310 Public Square in Columbia. 9:00amCT/10amET: Writers Day, Induction of Poet LaureateJane Gentry Vance induction as Poet Laureate is April 24, 2007. The Kentucky Arts Council will celebrate Kentucky Writers Day, highlighted by an induction ceremony for Jane Gentry Vance as the 23rd Kentucky Poet Laureate for 2007 and 2008. This years Kentucky Writers Day and Poet Laureate Induction Ceremony will be at 10:00amET/9:00amCT, Tuesday, April 24, at the Capitol Rotunda in Frankfort.

CANCELLED 5:30pm CT: Adair PDB meetingThe meeting for tonight has been cancelled and re-scheduled forTuesday, May 8, 2007: The Project Development Board will have a special-called meeting on Tuesday, May 8, 2007 at 5:30pm CT in the basement of the Adair County Annex Building. The meeting will be open to the public. -GALE COWAN, Finance Officer, Adair County Judge Executive's Office. The Adair County Project Development Board (PDB) holds its regular monthly meetings each 4th Tuesday in the basement of the Adair County Annex Building. The meeting is open to the public, especially all those interested in the new Adair County Justice Center. Board members at Judge Executive Ann Melton (chair), Circuit Court Clerk Dennis Loy, Columbia Attorney Marshall Loy, Circuit Court Judge James Weddle, First District Magistrate Roger Stephens, and Administrative Office of the Courts representative Doug Teague.

Major topic will be pay increases for lowest paid - under $25,000 annually - employeesThis group supervises the largest budget among Adair County taxing districts and oversees the majority player in the largest component of the Adair County economy. The Westlake Cumberland Hospital Board of Directors meets tonight, Tuesday, February 27, 2007, at 6:30pm at the Board of Directors Conference Room at the hospital. The board's regular monthly meetings are each 4th Tuesday in the conference room of Westlake Regional Hospital. The board currently includes the following members (term expiration dates in parenthesis): Chairman, Mitchell Harris (March 11, 2009), and members Brenda Harvey (August 26, 2007), Gerald McLean (October 28, 2007), James Evans (November 30, 2008), and Katie Campbell (April 27, 2009)

Adair County Road Department Work
Tuesday, April 24, 2007. Lonnie Page, is working in on the Blue Branch cutting a ditch so the road would drain. Terry Williams, Tom Brock, and Donnie Melton has gone on the Dunnville Road cutting a tree that has fallen, reported by the school bus driver. Gary Samuells will cold patching on Cooper Ridge and Winfrey Hill in District 1. Terry Williams will be cutting out the Abrell Road in Distrct 1, and Donnie Melson will be hauling gravel for the Abrell Road. - LISA LEE, Administrative Assistant, Judge-Executive's Office.
