What's next?: The bid date for the Western Bypass around Columbia is now set for April 20, 2007.Kentucky's Six-Year Plan Project information map shows more orange, the color codes for construction projects awarded. Newest ones which are now orange are the paving contract for the Louie B. Nunn, awarded to Gaddie-Shamrock and bridge replacements on KY 80 over Russell Creek and on KY 92 over Cedar Creek, near Joppa. One may detect the yellow on the Western Bypass flickering toward orange, but that highly anticipated award is still highly anticipated but should change in a month to six weeks. Bradford pear in bloom at Columbia City Hall

The Columbia photographer who shoots under the credit line of The Old Codger took this close-up of a Bradford pear blossoms on a tree located between City Hall and the Municipal Parking on Reed Street. It has been in bloom several days, he says, but this photo is fresh-taken, snapped yesterday, Tuesday, March 20, 2007. It's worth taking a short cut from Campbellsville ST to Jamestown ST or vice versa, to see.

Coming home traffic on Campbellsville Road is perplexing anytime of the day, and a bit more so in this southbound car's rearview mirror. Hint: The big building is Dr. Eric Loy's Adair Family Medical Center. Vehicles were backed up to Grant Lane the day this picture was taken. The record may be north of that. (Thanks to a favorite reader who was reminded of our town's famous--or infamous--flag with the motto: Looking back to forge ahead after the original cutline was written. -Ed)
