CU to Present Piano Recital March 22 By Joan C. McKinney, director of university communications CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - Dr. Wesley Roberts, a professor of music at Campbellsville University, will present a piano recital Thursday, March 22 at 8 p.m. in The Gheens Recital Hall on the campus of Campbellsville University. The event is free and open to the public. The program will include Preludes and Fugues from the Well-Tempered Clavier I by J. S. Bach, Histoires by Jacques Ibert, "The Alcotts" from Charles Ives's Concord Sonata and selections from George Crumb's Makrokosmos I-II. Roberts has been a member of the faculty at Campbellsville University since 1982. He teaches courses in piano and musicology. He has presented concerts as pianist and organist throughout the United States, in Europe and in Asia. Roberts is the author of articles and reviews in British, Dutch and American journals, and co-author with Maurice Hinson of The Piano in Chamber Ensemble, 2nd Edition, published in 2006 by Indiana University Press. His monumental study of the life and music of Jacques Ibert is at press. Roberts has served as a visiting professor at the French Piano Institute in Paris and at Shanghai Normal University. He is organist at Calvin Presbyterian Church in Louisville, and served as organist of the historic First Baptist Church, Somerset, Ky., throughout the 1990s. He has served additionally as president of three professional organizations, including the Kentucky Music Teachers Association, which granted him its 2005 Distinguished Service Award.
