JAIS Academic Team wins District Runner Up

A record: Team does extremely well in Written Assessments, winning 10 medals, the best showing ever for a John Adair Intermediate School team

By Jennifer MannThe John Adair Intermediate School Academic Team competed in the Elementary District Governors Cup Saturday, March 3, 2007 at Edmonton Elementary School. This division is for 4th and 5th grade students.



The Quick Recall team failed to advance to Regional Competition this year, but the team as a whole earned enough points to capture the District Runner-Up trophy.

The Future Problem Solving Team, coached by Jeana Pike, placed 2nd and will advance to Regional competition. FPS team members are Ashton Nixon, Rachel Stephens, Sarah McQuaide, and Amber Turner.

The team did extremely well in Written Assessments, earning 10 individual medals.

This is the best showing in Written Assessments for a John Adair team.

Rachel Stephens earned 1st place in Composition and tied with Matt Rogers for 1st place in Math.

Rebekah York received 1st place in Science and 5th place in Language Arts.

Halie Rooks earned 1st place in Language Arts.

Ashton Nixon received 2nd place in Science and 3rd place in Composition.

Sydney Bright received 3rd place in Social Studies and Timothy Watson received 2nd place in Arts & Humanities.

Future Problem-Solving Team members are Amber Turner, Rachel Stephens, Ashton Nixon and Sarah McQuaide. Their coach is Jeanna Pike.

The coaches for Quick Recall and Written Assessments are Judy Haysley, Krista Armes, and Betty Knifley.

The entire JAIS Academic Team includes: Timothy Watson, Halie Rooks, Rebekah York, Matt Rogers, and Harlee Smock. Amber Turner, Rachel Stephens, Sydney Bright, and Sarah McQuaide. Ashton Nixon, Courtney Quiroz, Michiah Baxter, and Jared Corbin.

The entire coaching staff includes Judy Haysley, Betty Knifley, Jeana Pike, and Krista Armes.
