2007 Election: Ann endorses Governor Fletcher

Letter of endorsement cites Governor Fletcher's "strong commitment to counties in South Central Kentucky . . . (which) have often been left behind without much help from state government."

Judge Executive Ann Melton is ending a neutral stance in the Republican primary. She will back Governor Fletcher. Her letter to the people of Adair County outlining her reasons follows:

To the People of Adair County:

As the gubernatorial election approaches, I encourage the voters to return Governor Ernie Fletcher to Frankfort for a second term. I am personally committed to doing all I can to help Governor Fletcher win re-election this year. November.

Governor Fletcher has shown to me a strong commitment to counties located in South Central Kentucky. For many years the smaller counties in Kentucky have often been left behind without much help from state government. Governor Fletcher has proved to me his dedication to all Kentuckians by helping Adair County many times during the last three years.

The Governor and members of the Transportation Cabinet were in Adair County just last week and delivered over eleven million dollars in funds for transportation projects. Secretary Bill Nighbert and his staff are some of the most caring and helpful individuals anyone could ever hope to work with.

Governor Fletcher has amassed a long list of accomplishments during the first three years of his administration accomplishments that impact the lives of all Kentuckians and future of our great Commonwealth.

The "Rainy Day" fund has increased from zero in 2002 to its current level of $231.5 million drastically improving the Commonwealths credit rating and saving millions of dollars in interest on debt.

Governor Fletcher is taking better care of our children and working hard to provide them a solid educational foundation by investing in technology for schools across Kentucky, increasing teacher pay and providing tax credits for students attending Kentucky colleges and universities.

These items are just a few examples of the Governor's hard work to move our Commonwealth forward. His leadership and focus on improving the lives of all Kentuckians is why I believe he should be re-elected.

I stand behind our Governor and his great work. Governor Fletcher has earned my undivided support, and I pledge to give him that support today and through the 2007 election.

Sincerely yours,
ANN MELTON
Judge/Executive, Adair County, KY
February 27, 2007
Judge Melton is the third Adair County official to publicly endorse a gubernatorial candidate. On the Democratic side, Adair County PVA W.M. Feese and Circuit Court Clerk Dennis Loy are backing Speaker Jody Richards.
