KY Parks Dept. seeks proposals for Green River Lake Resort

Request for Proposal seeks private investors for 50 room lodge, conference center, restaurant, gift shop, pool and 18-hold golf course between Campbellsville and Columbia in Taylor County; state would provide some funding for infrastructure

The Kentucky Department of Parks is seeking a contractor to build and operate a lodge, restaurant and golf course at Green River Lake State Park in Taylor County.

A request for proposal for the project was issued February 13, 2007. Green River Lake State Park--south Campbellsville, north of Coburg--currently has a campground, boating and fishing on an 8,200-acre lake, and 25 miles of hiking trails. The RFP seeks a lodge with at least 50 rooms, conference center, restaurant, gift shop, pool and 18-hole golf course.

"I am confident there is interest among private investors for this project," said Taylor County Judge-Executive Eddie Rogers. "We think we have a hidden jewel with this state park."

The state will provide some funding for roads, sewer, water, electric and other infrastructure costs. "Public-private partnerships, such as this one, are the best way to leverage scarce capital dollars and to obtain the best return on the taxpayers' investment," said Parks Commissioner J.T. Miller.
