Seven big rural secondary projects scheduled this year

Adair's Rural Secondary Road program will have a total budget approaching $1 million in 2007. Seven major improvements are scheduled for the coming year.

Gorman Shelley, Director of Rural Secondary Roads for Kentucky Department of Highways District 8, Somerset, KY, appeared before the court to detail the state plans for the county's rural roads. The budget for 2007 is $908,354, he said, of which $106,231 is leftover money.



Maintenance is budgeted to receive $317,200, Shelley said, and $693,527 is scheduled for improvements, which include the following projects:
  1. Resurface 2.504 miles of KY 704, Inroad-Cumberland Co. Line. Estimated cost, $146,800. District 3

  2. Resurface 1.602 miles of KY 76, Neatsville-Dulworth Road, from junction KY 206. Estimated cost, $115,750. District 1.

  3. Resurface 1.37 miles of Ky 551, Knifley-Roley Road, from junction KY 76. Estimated Cost, $95,650. District 6.

  4. Resurface 0.545 mile of KY 768, Milltown Road, from junction KY 61. Estimated cost $38,650 District 5.

  5. Resurface 1.05 miles KY 2970, Sanders Ridge Road, from junction KY 206. Estimated cost, $64,300. District 1.

  6. Culvert replacement KY 2982 (over Butler Fork Branch), Jones-Chapel Road. Estimated cost, $135,000. District 4.

  7. Resurface 1.46 miles of KY 76, Millerfield Road. From Adair-Russell County line. Estimated cost, $91,700. District 1.

The projects as presented by Mr. Shelley were approved unanimously by the court, on a motion by Magistrate Wid Harris (2), seconded by Magistrate Billy Dean Coffey (5).
