Youth All-Star Predators bring home trophies By Donald Hare On February 3rd and 4th , 2007, Damon's CTA (Cheerleading & Tumbling Academy) Youth All-Star Cheerleading Predators, attended the Bluegrass Classic State Cheer and Dance Championships held at Henry Clay High School in Lexington, KY, and the Commonwealth Cheer and Dance Open held at Madison Central High School in Richmond, KY. The first day the Predators won 1st place, in the Beginner Junior Prep Division, but also won Grand Champion, for receiving the highest total points, in the All-Star category. The Predator Parents participated in the Central KY Blood Center fundraiser in which they won $50.00 for donating the most blood. On the second day the Predators won 2nd place, in the Beginner Juniors Division I. One team member, Rachel Stephens, competed in the Division I individual cheer competition and won 1st place. "I was really nervous," said Rachel, "This was my first time competing by myself and I didn't know what to expect. But, I won!" Damon Hicks, the Predator coach said, "Again the girls showed that they can step in up a notch when it is time to compete. I am very proud of the girls, their parents, and all their accomplishments this past weekend! "This was our first competition this season and the routine is a little harder, but when you put an audience in front of them, they can really turn it on!" said Hicks. When asked how they felt about their accomplishment, the girls yelled, "Good, because we won!" The Predators next competition will be the Cheerfire Cheer and Dance Open Nationals, in Newport, KY on March 3, 2007. This story was posted on 2007-02-07 04:09:17
