Scenic Adair Co., KY: A monument to Plum Point Bridge

Devin Feese, an Adair County student at Western Kentucky University, took this photo on Sunday, February 4, 2007, while standing on old KY 551 at the site of the Old Plum Point Bridge, looking east up the frozen Green River. In the foreground is one of the few remaining wooden poles from the old bridge, which was taken down with the impoundment of Green River Reservoir, now called Green River Lake.

Birds of Kentucky: White Breasted Nuthatch



2007-02-06 - Photo by Pen. The white-breasted nuthatch (sitta carolinesus) is easily recognized by its distinctive markings, and by its habit of climbing headfirst down the trunks of trees. You can see in this picture his huge rear claws, which aid in those feats of climbing agility.

Sinclair honored with 2006 Staff Recognition Award

A.L. "Pee Wee" Sinclair, left, received the "2006 Staff Recognition Award" for the Lake Cumberland Area District at the Statewide Solid Waste Workship held January 25-26, 2007, in Louisville. The award was presented by from left of Mr. Sinclair Cabinet Secretary Teresa Hill and Local Asistance Supervisor Leslie King. At right, is Adair County Judge Executive Ann Melton, who also attended the workshop, along with Administrative Assistant Lisa Lee. Sinclair supervises the cleanup of 1500 miles of Adair County roadways annually. Sinclair is also a member of the PRIDE Board of Directors.
