Feedback: Nouveau Knifley honyock bloviates a bit Charges CM with Fancy Frenchyism To the editor, CMI checked on Caldwell, Robinson and Burton Ridge down at the Crossroads and even deep into Tucker Woods. None of us can figure out what nouveau means. Best guess is that it must be some kind of frenchy word that town folk use when they're around the campus folks.COF- high on a ridge above beautiful downtown Knifley PS - even tho none agreed on the precise meaning of "honyock," we all claimed to know what it meant. Bloviating back: Of course they understand honyockand wouldn't know nouveau there. Those are German, not French, Districts, with lots those Neats and Niedts. "Nouveau" would be used in Huguenot Adair County. Places like Fairplay, Flatwoods, and Sparksville. Everybody knows that. Time for you to come down from your aerie and smell the coffee in Three & Four. It could learn you something. -ED This story was posted on 2007-02-01 06:34:42
