Letter: Larry 'Lar-on-the-Air' Smith NOT arrested, but two other Larrys were Two Larrys were arrested last night in Columbia on drug charges, one of them even shares the first AND last name of the popular local broadcaster. It's confusing but Larry from WHVE radio says to check that middle initial because neither Larry was him! WHVE's, Larry -J.- Smith, asked us to alert readers that he is not to be confused with the man arrested yesterday in Columbia whose name is Larry -B.- Smith. His Saturday morning broadcast is peppered with reminders to listeners that Lar-On-The-Air is NOT that guy. Larry Joe Smith said the minute he stopped in at McDonalds for breakfast on his way to work at the station people began asking him what was going on. The Columbia Police Department news release follows with the story of both arrests: A traffic stop inside the limits of Columbia on Friday night resulted in an Adair County man, 42 year old Larry -B.- Smith, being arrested on drug traffiking charges. He was lodged in the Adair County Jail. The arrest of Larry B. Smith was made by Columbia Officer Brad Scholl, assisted by Officers Gary Roy and Josh Brockman. In a second arrest, Larry D. Anderson, 50, was arrested on drug charges. He was charged with possession of cocoaine and lodged in the Adair County Jail. The arrest was made by Officer Gary Roy and assisted by Major Terry Flatt and Officer Josh Brockman. Columbia Police Department 270-384-4119 This story was posted on 2007-01-27 08:48:37
