Obituary: Arvis (Buck) Burton

Mr. Burton was a member of a prominent Adair County family. He was a retired Naval Ordnance machinist, a US Army veteran, and member of Okalona Christian Church

Arvis "Buck" Burton age 71 of Okolona formerly of Adair County, Kentucky passed away Monday, January 8, 2007 in Louisville, KY.

Funeral services are Friday, January 12, 2007, at 1:00pm CT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY.

Mr. Burton was the son of the late: Lloyd "Bodie" and Flora Holt Burton of Adair Co. KY.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Wanda Bryant Burton of Okolona, KY and the following:
  • One son: Eric Burton

  • One daughter: Jill Battcher

  • Two half-brothers: Murrell Burton and William Burton both of Columbia, KY

  • Three half sisters: Phyllis Cundiff, Campbellsville, KY; Marilyn Stephens, Columbia, KY; and Sharon Hodges,Campbellsville, KY

  • And several nieces, nephews, and cousins
He was preceded in death by a brother, Arnold Burton in 1998.

Mr. Burton was a retired machinist for the Naval Ordnance Station, a U.S. Army veteran, and a member of the Okolona Christian ChurchVisitation after 9:00am CT, on Friday, January 12, 2007 at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home.

Burial will be in the New Hope Cemetery, KY 206 at Ella.

Other visitation will be on Wednesday, January 12, 2007, from 2:00pm until 8:00pm ET,at Schoppenhorst, Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home, Preston Highway atBrooks Road in Shepherdsville, KY
Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home is in charge of funeral arrangements.
