Veterans List: a Merrill's Marauder, former AC magistrate added Editor, ColumbiaMagazine.com: I would like to add my mothers uncle, Edwin Downey, to the list. He served with Merrill's Marauders in Burma during WWII. Also please add Kenneth "Buck" Downey, he served during the Korean war. Someone has incorrectly added my name as having served during WWII, I served from 1986 to 1990. Regards, Wally Burress Thanks for the edit on your own service and the update on Edwin Downey's service, and the addition of Kenneth "Buck" Downey to the list. We're hoping that more readers will help us make the list a more accurate by sending edits, as you have. Additions to listings are welcome, too. We've added, "Edwin Downey, served with Merrill's Marauders in Burma during WWII," "Kenneth 'Buck' Downey, Korean Conflict," and revised the listing for your service to, "Wally Burress, service from 1986 to 1990." Also, we've added a family breakout for the Downeys, who have played such a leadership role in Adair County affairs. Kenneth Downey was Magistrate for Adair County District 5 for a number of years, as were a number of members of this distinguished family.
