Letter: Ex pat says we must be doing something right in Adair

Ed:

A great example that timing IS everything. I received a forwarding from Jim Beard this morning. It identified conditions in the USA 100 years ago. I then compared it to Knifley of thelate thirties/early forties.

A FEW EXAMPLES
Bathtubs, Percentage in Knifley---0
Telephones, percentage in Knifley---0
Paved roads, ----not for a long time
Average Income--- Whatever you sold your corn or "terbacer" for
Percentage of children born at home--- 100%
etc, etc.

Apparently we hadn't caught up with 1906 in the rest of the country in several categories.

Then in punched up ColumbiaMagazine.com and there sat Ray Bryant, who I think must have owned one of the larger farms around, mostly worked it with his dad and he's looking pretty good at 93.

We MUST have done SOMETHING right.
