Columbia, Dunnville drivers injured In US 127 accident

One airlifted to Lexington; Columbia driver taken to Russell County Hospital

Both drivers involved in a two vehicle accident on US 127 this afternoon sustained injuries, with one requiring air evacuation to the University of Kentucky Hospital.The accident occurred 2.7 miles north of Russell Springs, KY, at 2:15pm CT, Tuesday, January 2, 2007.



Angela Steinbacker, 33, Columbia, KY, was operating a 1989 Chevrolet northbound on US 27, the same direction as James T. Coburn, 66, Dunnville was traveling in a 1991 Chevrolet pickup.

The Coburn pickup slowed for vehicle turning and was struck by the Steinbacker vehicle. Both vehicles came to rest in the ditchline of the southbound side.

Coburn, who was not using a seatbelt, was flown to University of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington, KY.

Steinbacker, who was belted, was transported to Russell County Hospital, Russell Springs, KY.

The incident was investigated by Trooper Mike Woodrum of Kentucky State Police Post 15, Columbia, KY.
