Obituary: Rev. Joe A. Firquin, 74, Korean Conflict veteran

Rev. Firquin, a Methodist minister, was an Adair native and a member of a distinguished Adair County family. Visitation and the funeral service will be in Munfordville; burial will be at Haven Hill in Columbia
Rev. Joe A. Firquin, 74, Munfordville, KY, passed away at 11:04am, Monday, January 1, 2007, at the Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown, KY. The Adair County native was born on July 31, 1932, the son of Guy and Beatrice Coomer Firquin. He grew up in the Weed community of this county.

He was a Methodist minister. During his long career, he was pastor at Ray's Branch, Greenhill, Bonnieville, Rock Creek, Millerstown, and the Hardyville Union Church, where he pastored for nine years.



He was a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.

He is survived by his wife, Olzetta Hadley Firquin, Munfordsville, KY, and the following:
  • One son: Allen Firquin and his wife Beth, Hodgenville, KY

  • Two brothers: Jimmy Firquin, Columbia, KY; and Guy Firquin, Louisville, KY

  • Two sisters: Elva England, Columbia, KY; and Jewell Kerns, Louisville, KY

  • And five grandchildren: Michael, Jonathan, Allison, Bryce, and Shelby Firquin
The funeral services for the Rev. Firquin will be at the Sego Funeral Home, 114 W South ST, in Munfordville, KY, at 1:00pm, Wednesday, January 3, 2007, with Rev. Tony Wright, Rev. Barry Locke, and Rev. Steven Locke officiating.

Visitation will be after 3:00pm, Tuesday, January 2, 2007, at Sego Funeral Home.Burial will be in the Haven Hill Cemetery, Liberty RD, Columbia, KY.
