Obituary: Bertha Ruth Rush Pike, 90

Mrs. Pike was a member of Purdy SBC. She was the matriarch of a large family, with 41 descendants

Bertha Ruth Rush Vincent Pike, 90, a resident of Green Hill Manor Nursing Home in Greensburg, KY, formerly of the Purdy community in Adair County, KY, passed away Sunday, December 31, 2006, at 8:15am at the nursing home.

The funeral service will be Tuesday, January 2, 2007, at 1:00pm, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home in Columbia, Ky, with Bro. Junior Holmes officiating.



She was the daughter of the late Emmitt and Hettie Murphy Rush of Cumberland County, KY.

She was preceded in death by her husband Curtis Arthur Vincent on July 14, 1968, and later married Thelbert Pike of Columbia, KY, who survives.She is also survived by the following:
  • Three daughters: Josie Dial and her husband, William, Greensburg, KY; Joyce Dickson of Morrilton, AR; and Deline McQueary and her husband, Don, Columbia, KY.

  • A daughter-in-law: Mabel Vincent, Edinburg, IN

  • Ten grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and nine great-great grandchildren

  • And a host of other relatives and friends
Mrs. Pike was a member of Purdy Separate Baptist Church and was a homemaker.

Interment will be in Haven Hill Cemetery.

Visitation is after 4:30pm, Monday, January 1, 2006, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY.Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home is in charge of funeral arrangements.
