LWC to host two Christmas music events this week
Lindsey Wilson College will host two Christmas music events during the first week of December. Classical guitarist Jon Reynolds will perform "A Guitar for Christmas"at 3:00pm CT on Sunday, December 3, in Roberta D. Cranmer Dining & Conference Center. And the college will host "Scriptures and Songs of Christmas" at 10:30am CT on Wednesday, December 6 in V.P. Henry Auditorium. The presentations, which are free and open to the public, are part of the 2006-07 Lindsey Wilson Cultural Affair Series. Classical guitarist Jon Reynolds says his December 3 performance at Lindsey Wilson College is an honor. "I really appreciate the opportunity Lindsey Wilson has given me now and in the past to share this time with the wonderful people in the community," Reynolds said. "I truly enjoy playing guitar." Reynolds will perform arrangements from several composers, including Alex de Grassi, Howard Morgen and Andrew York. A self-proclaimed "perpetual student" of guitar of 11 years, Reynolds said he respects composers' talent as he learns their music."I realize just how truly gifted many of these people are, and it's an honor to tackle their music," Reynolds said. "I only hope I do them justice." Reynolds said performing Christmas music helps him remember the true meaning of the holiday season. "As the holiday approaches, it certainly gives me pause to remember to slow down and reflect on the purpose of the season,# Reynolds said. "Scriptures and Songs of Christmas," set for December 6, is an annual worship service. The community is invited to join Lindsey Wilson students and employees, who will read scripture verses about the birth of Christ and sing traditional Christmas hymns. 1) Classical guitarist Jon Reynolds will perform "Guitar for Christmas" at 3:00pm CT on Sunday, December 3, 2006 in Roberta D.
