Fatal accident claims life of Betty Bray, 54

Kentucky State Police Trooper B. J. Burton responded to a fatal automobile accident at 8:50 this morning seven miles north of Columbia on highway 61.

Betty Bray, 54, of Russell Springs, was pronounced dead at the scene by coroner Rick Wilson.

Her daughter and passenger, 35-year-old Kimberly Bray, also of Russell Springs, was not injured in the accident.

The 2004 Ford Escape being driven by Ms. Bray dropped off the right hand shoulder, came back on the road, overcorrected and ran off the right hand side of the road, striking a sign and a tree.

Bernard Funeral Home in Russell Springs will be in charge of arrangements. Because she was an organ donor, details may not be available until tomorrow.
