Three more letters were received Tuesday, November 28, 2006 with new names and more information to be added to the compilation of list honoring Adair County Veterans.

We're learning with greater frequency of the impact of the war in Iraq on Adair Countians. Amelia Foster wrote that her son, Staff Sgt. Kenny Lee Pyles has just returned from service there, and Melody Pollard also sent word that her son, 1LT Shane Pollard, is now serving in Iraq.

The new names have been added to the list. The letters received Tuesday follow:

Amelia Foster wrote: Please add the following names to your Veterans List - Kermit Rosco Tucker, US Air Force, Korean War; Bryan Woodrow Tucker, USAF; Savoy Foster, US Navy; Staff Sgt. Kenny Lee Pyles, US Army, who returned from Iraq the 19th of November, 2006; Thank you. -AMELIA FOSTER, Kenny's Mom.

Melody Pollard wrote:
Hi, Ed - I would like to add my father Garold "Gary" Russell, who served in WWII; my husband E-6 George Pollard served six years with the National Guard; also our son 1LT Shane Pollard, who is now in Iraq again for a year and will come home December, 2007.

If anyone would like to write to Shane his address is:

1LT Shane Pollard

Thank you, Ed, Linda, and Columbia Magazine for all the news, updates and community support.

Sincerely,

Melody Pollard
Our thanks to everyone who has contributed to the list, and who have patiently worked to get corrections made when necessary.

The plan is to make the additions as received through November, then requests for additions will be archived for updates nearer to Memorial Day, 2007.
