Adair Veterans List update November 28, 2006

A beautiful letter requesting prayers for a family with a loved one in Iraq. Letters from James Orley Absher, Robbie Bell, and Lee Ann Roy add five names to the Veterans List

By Ed Waggener

Three more letters were received Monday, November 27, 2006 with information to be added to the compilation of names of Adair County Veterans.

James Orley Absher sent three names, including the name of a World War I cavalryman:
Dear Ed,

I would like to add three names to the list. The first two are my uncles, Earl Redmon, and Edward Redmon. The other one that I would like to add is my grandfather, Samuel H. Absher, he served in WWI in the cavalry.

Thanks and keep up the good work.

Robbie Bell sent a reminder of his uncle's supreme sacrifice:
Ed,

Please add my uncle's name to your veteran's list.

Ray G. Willis was killed during WWII. Thanks.
Lee Ann Roy writes about an Adair County soldier who is serving in Iraq this Christmas:
Dear Mr. Waggener,

My name is Lee Ann Roy and my brother-in-law Sergeant Christopher "Scott" Tarter is currently in Iraq. Scott is an employee of the Columbia Post Office where he is greatly missed at this time. He is married to my sister, Amy Deering Tarter, and they have two beautiful girls. Nealee Grace is 5 years old and Arabella Chase is 4 1/2 months old. Our family is really missing Scott these days as the Holidays are fast approaching.

Scott is currently serving in the Kentucky National Guard as a sergeant in the 410 Quarter Master Batallion. He was deployed in August of this year.

He will be gone until at least August 2007 and quite possilby longer. As a courtesy to our family would you please add his name to your Veteran's page. We would greatly appreciate it, and also say a prayer for him.

I thank you so much in advance!!!

Sincerely and thank you!!!
Lee Ann Roy
Special help requested: Breakouts of family names with three or more veterans were made in the "W's" today. If you family name ends in "W," would you help by checking the list for corrections, additions to entries, and additional names. We are particularly hoping to fill out the list of "Wilsons."

The plan is to make the additions as received through November, then requests for additions will be archived for updates nearer to Memorial Day, 2007.
