Adair Veterans List update November 26, 2006

Contributions to the Adair County Veterans List pick up after Thanksgiving lull. Letters received from Kathy Cox, Ricky Clutterbuck, Rebecca Grant, and Ruby Pollard; a request for stories, particularly Christmas ones.

By Ed Waggener

Several letters were received Saturday with information to be added to the compilation of names of Adair County Veterans.

Some of the information was clarification of the service of previously listed names. We really appreciate these notes. And we appreciate if it is noted that the name is already on the lists.

We are continuing to breakout the family names where several Adair Countians with the same last name have served. You'll see more of those today.

If anyone helping with this project would do so, we'd appreciate accounts of stories from the war times. If you remember stories from those in military service you'd like to share, please send them. It may be an account of receiving a Christmas package in World War II or Korea. It may be of service in Vietnam. It may be stories from Desert Storm or the current Iraq conflict. Or it may one of those humorous stories of people just getting by in a difficult situation. Or it may be stories of some of Adair County's great heroes, such as Sampson Yarberry. His stories are ones we'd love to have.

The new names just received are now added, and the letters are printed below:Kathy Cox sent these names: Phillip O. Keltner, US Army, WWII; Jimmie Dale Cox, US Army.Ricky Clutterbuck wrote: Ed, I would like to add my husband, Robert Clutterbuck to the veterans list please. He served in the USAF from July 1968 to July 1972. Also, please add my father in law to the list, John R. Clutterbuck. He served in the Army Infantry during WWII. He served on 3 fronts during the war. (1942-1945) #And was involved in the Battle of the Bulge. Thanks, Ricky Clutterbuck.

Rebecca Grant: wrote: Dr. Edward W. Grant served in the Army 1952-1954. His son Kerry Grant served in the US Navy from 1985-2005. Thank you for the wonderful job you do with this web site. You are much appreciated.
Ruby Pollard: wrote: I would like to add some names to the list Mr. L. T. Bradshaw Air Force, Korea; Carlo Taylor, WWII; Larance Taylor WWII

Our thanks to everyone who has contributed to the list, and who have patiently worked to get corrections made when necessary.

The plan is to make the additions as received through November, then requests for additions will be archived for updates nearer to Memorial Day, 2007.
