Democrats meet in Louisville to hear President Bill Clinton

Photos of Adair Countians: Jody with President Clinton. Adair group at event
A standing-room-only crowd met in Louisville Tuesday evening to hear former President Bill Clinton's address to the annual Jefferson-Jackson dinner. The convention center was overflowing and for this one night, his thoughts and words didn't have to be shared with 49 other states, he belonged just to Kentucky. He spoke generally at first, remembering what a good friend Kentucky had been to him even in the early days as a visiting Governor from Arkansas.

As he narrowed his remarks, he spoke to every Democratic leader in the audience by name and thanked them for their help, from Kentucky's US Senator Wendell Ford to Speaker of the House of Representatives Jody Richards, and every name in between.

As each of the present candidates received his acknowledgement and backing, he wove into his speech the most critical national and international reasons he believes Democrats should be supported in November.

The 2006 event raised more money for the state Democratic Party than any in its history.
