Obituary: Gene Chapman, 63, USAF Vietnam Era veteran

Mr. Chapman rose to rank of Technical Sergeant. He owned Tronix 20-20 since 1991

Gene Chapman, 63, Columbia, KY, died Saturday, October 21, 2006, in Elizaethtown, KY, after an illness.

Mr. Chapman was owner of Tronix 20-20 in Columbia from 1991 to the present.



He was a member of Columbia, KY VFW post 6097.

He was an US Air Force veteran, who served from 1961-1973 during the Vietnam War. He received numerous medals including the Bronze Star, Good Conduct, Markmanship, Outstanding Unit, and the Presidential Unit Citation. He was discharged as a Technical Sergeant.

A native of Russell County, KY, he was a son of the late Ben and Pauline Stapp Chapman.

Survivors include the following:
  • His son and daughter-in-law: Ben and Amber Chapman and their soon to be born son, who will be named William Alden Chapman, Oologah, OK

  • One brother: Roger Chapman, Elizabethtown, KY

  • Three sisters: Lacona Haggan and Helen Ballenger, Elizabethtown, KY; and Roberta McKeon, Radcliff, KY
Cremation has been chosen and there will be no services or visitation.

Grissom Funeral Home is in charge of arrangments.
