Rain contributes to two-vehicle crash 3 miles north of Columbia

Driver of pickup overcorrects after dropping off right shoulder; strikes van

A two-vehicle accident at around 4:20pm, Thursday afternoon, October 19, 2006, three miles out KY 61 North (the Greensburg road) sent two Green County residents, along with one Adair County resident, to the hospital.

Rainfall was a contributing factor in the accident.

Donald Green, 69, Columbia, KY, was traveling south on KY 61 in a Chevy pickup when he dropped off the right shoulder, overcorrected, came back on the roadway, and struck a Chevy van traveling north, which was operated by Marvin Janes, Greensburg, KY.



A passenger in the Green vehicle, Eugene Morgan, 44, Columbia, was transported by Adair County EMS to Westlake Regional Hospital in Columbia, KY.

The driver of the Chevy Van, Marvin Janes, and a passenger, Hilda Janes, were both transported to Jane Todd Hospital in Greensburg, KY, by Adair County EMS.

All were treated for minor injuries and released.

The accident was investigated by Adair County Deputy Sheriff Charles Greer, assisted by the Kentucky State Police. The Adair County Rescue Squad also responded.
