Forensic Anthropologist Emily Craig will review book at LWC Kentucky is only state with full time forensic anthropologist. October 24, she will review Teasing Secrets from the Dead: My Investigations at Americas Most Infamous Crime Scenes By Emily Harlan, Lindsey Wilson College Staff writer Forensic anthropologist and author Emily Craig will speak about her book Teasing Secrets from the Dead: My Investigations at Americas Most Infamous Crime Scenes on October 24, 2006, at Lindsey Wilson College. Craig's reading will be at 7:00pm. CT on Tuesday, October 24, in Lindsey Wilsons W.W. Slider Humanities Center Recital Hall. Craig's presentation, which is free and open to the public, is part of the 2006-07 Lindsey Wilson Cultural Affair Series. Craig is Kentuckys state forensic anthropologist, the only such full-time position in the United States. She analyses human bones to identify the deceased and solve crimes. Teasing Secrets from the Dead: My Investigations at Americas Most Infamous Crime Scenes reveals Craig' experience working at various crime scenes, including the Branch Davidian site in Waco, Texas, the Murrah Building in Oklahoma City and The World Trade Center's body identification site. Craig first became interested in forensics in the 1970s, when she worked as a medical illustrator and was assigned to create a model of a murder victims face. Craig taught at Pellissippi State Community College and the University of Louisville before becoming Kentuckys State Forensic Anthropologist in 1994. Craig currently is a member of the American Board of Forensic Anthropologists, American Academy of Forensic Sciences, International Association for Identification and Association of Medical Illustrators. "It can be gruesome, but I love my job,"Craig says on her web site, "I thrive on the challenge of solving a mystery, of working with complex puzzles that call upon every ounce of my wit and resourcefulness."
