Community-wide at 6:00pm CT Church Service kicks of "Folklore of the Old West" week

It is another incredibly beautiful day in Adair County.

If you are looking for a place of worship today, see Directory of Churches

This evening, there's a recommended event, starting at 6:00pm CT. The Fall Festival week, "Folklore of the Old West," begins with a community wide church service on the steps of the Columbia Baptist Church. The festival will resume later in the week.

On Friday, October 13, the festival opens at 3:00pm CT with vendor booths ready, and later lots of music, including the Casey Jones Fiddlin' Contest and, later, the Silver Eagle Band.

On Saturday, October 14, the Festival is full-blown, with a 5K race, lots of booths and rides on the Square, and, at high noon, a re-enactment of the James-Younger Bank of Columbia robbery. Activities are scheduled through the afternoon with a Magic Show and finish with an evening of music by Hearts of Praise, the Dream Depot, ELVIS, and concludes with Bluegrass/Gospel by the Baileys.

It's been a wonderful start to fall, with more to do and more places to eat than anyone can take in. Some say be incited to drive to places like Brown County or go to Gatlinburg or Helen. It'll be a mistake. It won't get any better than being in Adair County. Everything is right here (or no more than one county away).
