Letter: More on the Leftwich, Adair County connections Ben Breeding also sends update on his whereabouts; he is now much close-ter to roots in south Adair County than he used to be in Texas Ed, If I understood the article correctly, your wife, Linda, had a grandparent named Leftwich. My great grandmother was Sarah Adeline Leftwich, born in 1820. She married Robert Montgomery Breeding in 1840. Her parents were Robert and Catherine Leftwich. The Leftwich's came from Bedford County, VA. Interestingly, when Sarah became critically ill, her sister, Martha A., came to care for Sarah and her young children. My grandfather, Rev. George Bryant Breeding, was only five at the time. After Sarah died in 1858, Robert then married Martha. I was successful in purchasing the historic home near Springfield, KY. The house was built in 1843, and was used as a hospital following the Battle of Perryville, which was only 15 miles away. We are currently living in our motor home, which is parked on the lawn of the house while we are adding on for a modern kitchen and bathrooms. The house sits on 125 acres, and once I have some new fences in place, will resume my hobby of raising beef cattle. We will not move into the house until the project is finished, after the first of the year. Ben Breeding Linda was happy to hear the story of Sarah Adeline Leftwich. We're both happy that you all are moving back to Kentucky, where you belong. To read the story Ben refers to, Click Here This story was posted on 2006-09-18 08:15:40
