CPD gets him back! Christian apprehended in Pulaski CO A tip to Columbia Police Officer Josh Brockman leads to return of locally famous fugitive, whose latest escape ends after 145 days of freedom. The long arm of the Columbia PD has him nabbed just two-counties away. Pulaski Sheriff's Office makes arrest. After short stay in Somerset, Christian Wheeler returned to old digs at Monroe & Greensburg Streets in Columbia, KY Christian Wheeler has been returned to the Adair County Regional Jail. The now legendary escape artist was recaptured last night following a tip received by Columbia Police Officer Josh Brockman that Wheeler was staying at a mobile home park in Pulaski County. Officer Brockman contacted the Pulaski County Sheriff's Office with the information, and warrants were obtained stemming from his escape on April 23, 2006. Wheeler was arrested at 8:30pm, Friday evening, September 15, 2006, by the Pulaski Sheriff's Office at a mobile home park. He was charged with operating on a suspended license and giving a false name to a police officer.Wheeler was temporarily lodged in the Pulaski County Detention Center. A few hours later, Wheeler was returned to Columbia to the Adair County Regional Jail to face charges of escape 1st degree, theft by unlawful taking over $300, and assault 3rd degree, where, at latest report, he remains. The capture followed intense efforts by officers of the Columbia Police Department, who were sometimes a bit testy when questioned about Christian's whereabouts during his flight. They can smilie today. Police have not released Wheeler's itinerary during his latest run, but reports of locations had been received at CPD headquarters that he was as far away as North Carolina. During his absence, he did not communicate with the Columbia Police Department with so much as a postcard. Some story details information courtesy Columbia Police Department, Mark D.
