LCADD Citizen Corps to offer CERT training in Columbia Columbia event is September 28, 2006; will also be offered in Liberty the following week The Lake Cumberland Regional Citizen Corps Council will present a training program entitled, "Disaster Preparedness & Volunteering in the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program at the Adair County Courthouse Annex Community Room on Thursday, September 28, 2006, at 6:00pm CT. The presentation will be made by Kentucky's office of Homeland Security, Lake Cumberland Area Development District, and the State Fire Rescue Training (Area 14). The Citizens Corps Council is extending the invitation to attend to residents of the entire Lake Cumberland Region, which includes Adair, Casey, Clinton, Cumberland, Green, McCreary, Pulaski, Russell, Taylor and Wayne Counties. Those unable to attend the Columbia session will have a second chance when the program is presented on October 9, 2006, at 6:00pm Eastern Time, in the Central Kentucky Agriculture and Exposition Center, 678 Wallace Wilkinson Blvd, Liberty, KY, in Casey County. A meal will be served, and the organizers request reservations by be made by Monday, September 25, 2006, for the Columbia program (or by October 5, 2006, for the Casey County session) by calling David Rowland at 270-866-4200, by emailing David@lcadd.org. According to Rowland, "Community preparedness is not the work of any one group. Ultimately it is the responsibility of every citizen in every community." He added, "You can prepare and participate by attending this training session on Disaster Preparedness and Volunteering in the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program.
